About the Author

Brenna SilboryA lifelong Californian, Brenna Silbory grew up in the Sierra Nevada foothills north of Sacramento, where as a kid she spent a lot of time foraging for wild blackberries and climbing trees. Educated exclusively in California public schools, she moved to the Bay Area in 2001. Since then, she’s worked as an attorney, government performance auditor, and nonprofit consultant. In 2012, she hiked the exquisite John Muir Trail from Yosemite to Mt. Whitney. Her spouse is a professional geek and their dogs are a handful. She used to explore, scuba dive, have awkward social encounters, love jazz, manage a chronic health condition, garden poorly, volunteer, and putter around on her bicycle from her home in San José. Then she moved to the Emerald Coast behind the Redwood Curtain, where she now spends most of her time trying to process the astonishing beauty of Humboldt County. She wrote a novel set in a future California. More of her work is at www.flourishingedge.com.

  1. I love your description of yourself. I love especially “has awkward social encounters” and “gardens poorly”. I mean, why include only the glowing — life is full of all kinds of things, and the things I do poorly are often as important and as enriching as the ones I do “well”.
